1. Start your free trial: Sign up with an email address. The first step with Shopify is to set up your free trial. All you need is an email address and a store name.
2. Familiarize yourself with Shopify. After setting up your account, you’ll immediately gain access to the Shopify interface. You’ll land on the Dashboard page, which is where you’ll see a recap of your activity once you launch your e-commerce store.
3. Add products. The best way to start setting up your store is to add a product right away. It makes the whole process more fluid, understandable, and tangible.
4. Store settings. Now that you have something to work with, and you’ve gotten a feel for what’s required to sell your products, let's address the store settings.
5. Define additional apps you may need. While addressing the settings, you may have discovered some functions you need that were missing. Perhaps you’re selling a digital product and need a solution to provide the download for an immaterial sale.
6. Design the store. At this point, you’ll be done with some of the most complex tasks. You may need some more time to fully flesh out the store settings, but while you do this, you can start designing the store itself.
7. Launch your e-commerce site. Before you can launch, you’ll need to have entered all of your products; completed the steps for payment, legal, shipping, and taxes; set up your domain name; and designed your store with a theme and descriptive texts.

1. Synchronize Data From Existing User Accounts Into a Central Identity Service. We ensured that all user profile and security credential information was synchronized from the stores, where it's managed, into the centralized Identity service.
2. Have All Authentication Go Through the Central Identity Service Via OpenID Connect (OIDC) OpenID Connect is an extension to the OpenID 2.0 specification and the method used to delegate authentication from the Shop to the Identity service.
3. Prompt Users to Combine Their Accounts Together. Users with an email address that can sign into more than one single Shopify service are prompted to combine their accounts together into a single Identity account.
4. Prompt Users to Enable a Second Factor to Protect Their Account. Having a user engaged in performing account maintenance was an excellent opportunity to expose them to the benefits of protecting their account with a second factor of security.
5. Create the Combined Identity Account. Once a user had validated their 2FA configuration of choice, or opted out of setting it up, we performed the following actions
6. Prevent New Legacy Accounts From Being Created. We didn’t want any more legacy accounts created. There were two user scenarios that needed to be updated to use the Identity creation flow: signing up for a new trial store on shopify.com and inviting new staff members to an existing store.

1. Land your traffic on the right page. Let’s get things started with a fairly easy question: where are you landing your customers on your website? If you’re getting traffic, that traffic must be going somewhere on your website.
2. Make your website easy to navigate. It is very easy for entrepreneurs who operate a brick and mortar store to provide prospective customers with a customized shopping experience.
3. Optimize your product page. I like to think of product pages like book covers. Honestly, there are so many similarities here. A great book cover has an appealing picture, a simple title that helps you understand what the book is all about, and a synopsis on the back with more detail.
4. Optimize your checkout process. Whenever a shopper gets to your checkout tab, they’re only a few clicks away from making a deal. All the hard work you’ve put into building your store and implementing marketing campaigns is so close to paying off.
5. Provide transparent policies. Earlier I have discussed confidence and trust, and how important they are in the relationship between eCommerce businesses and shoppers.

1. Leverage organic traffic as much a possible‌ ‌If you’re just starting out, free sources of traffic might make more sense than paid ads to get those first few sales.
2. Collaborate with others in your industry‌‌ Working with people in your space that have a large following on social media is a great strategy for getting eyes on your store.
3. Market your products in multiple places‌ ‌Shopify gives you the option to list your products on marketplaces outside of your store, including Amazon and eBay.
4. Try creating a newsletter‌ ‌An email newsletter is a direct line of contact with the people who use your product. It keeps you in communication with them, lets you provide incentives for their business, and can make one-time buyers into long-term customers.
5. Ask family and friends to spread the word‌ ‌If you don’t have an extensive social media network, you might still be able to get some help from friends and family.
6. Use paid ads‌ ‌It wouldn’t be an article about how to get sales on Shopify (or anywhere) without a section on paid ads. Social media ads, in particular, are simple and can connect you to a vast network of people — Facebook alone has a network of 2.74 billion active users.
7. Check out Reddit‌ ‌There’s a subreddit forum for just about everything you can think of, including whatever product or service you’re selling. Reddit doesn’t immediately seem like a place ripe with advertising opportunities, but you can use it as a way to connect with people.
8. Offer free shipping and/or free returns‌ ‌Everyone loves free shipping. For someone on the fence, it can be what makes them buy your product. Free returns add a sense of security since people know they can send back or exchange the product if it doesn’t work out.
9. Market to your email list‌ Once you’ve built up enough of a subscriber list from customer emails, you can send those people marketing offers. Sending the occasional deal and update keeps you in touch with the people on your list and can incentivize more regular business.

1. Add your products. Why make an online store without anything to buy? Adding products should be one of the first things you do, because your products are what you'll design the look and feel of your website around.
2. Create online shopping key pages for your store. So far, we’ve focused on products. But you need more than just products when you create your own online shopping website.
3. Make an online store that’s completely customized. Announcing Dawn. Dawn is Shopify’s new free theme. It offers our latest features and functionality, including sections on most templates, blocks, and metafields.
4. Set up shipping. Shipping can be one of the most complex considerations involved in running an ecommerce business. Between product weights, packaging costs, shipping destinations, carrier rates, and your potential profit per order, there are a lot of variables to juggle.
5. Set up taxes. As a business that sells goods or services, you have to collect taxes to send to the government each time someone orders from your store (some exceptions apply, such as for digital goods in many jurisdictions).
6. Setting up payment gateways and payouts. We’re in the final stretch! Next up is deciding how your store will accept payments and how you as a store owner will get paid.
7. Make an online store ready for launch. With all the work we’ve done so far, we could actually launch our store now if we wanted to. We would just disable the password protection under Online Store > Preferences, which is the final step to flip the open sign and let people in to start buying our products.
8. Launch your store 🚀 I'm finally ready to launch! Is my store perfect? No. But I feel good enough about it to bet time and money marketing it and learning from the feedback I get to make it even better over time.
